Defensive Backs / Special Teams Coach

Wes Bourke joined the Spartans in 2009 as a Defensive Backs Coach, following a stellar playing career with teams such as the Tiptree Titans and Chelmsford Cherokee.

Coach Bourke quickly established himself as an incredible asset to the team, with a skill for passing over his vast knowledge to his students in the Spartans defensive backfield. A real "players coach" with an infectious love for the game, Wes saw his group rise to become one of the strengths of the team, producing two team captains in Seb Tindall and Ally Minto.

In addition to his Defensive Backs role, Wes took over the Special Teams coaching in the 2011 season, and was a driving force in the emergence of this key area for the Spartans organisation.

Sadly, personal commitments led to Wes having to relinquish his Spartans duties in the 2012 pre-season.

The entire Bourke family - Wes, his wife Corinna, and their two sons Zak and Tyler - were ever-present on the Spartans sidelines, and we hope to continue to see our own "little Jamacian" cheering his prodiges on, both this season and beyond!

Thanks for the memories, Wes!
