Offensive Line

Sean Benton was a dominant, inspiring figure on the Basildon Chiefs / Essex Spartans offensive line from 1991 until he made the decision to retire in 2010.

Sean played with all the heart, determination and dedication you could ask of any man, and was an inspiration to all those who played alongside him.

During a stellar paying carrer stretching back to 1985, Sean also represented his country at both senior and junior levels.

Sean cut his coaching teeth in 2009 when he accepted the role of Defensive Co-Ordinator for the Anglia-Ruskin Phantoms University team, and coached with the same level of success he had seen as a player - the Phantoms recorded their best ever defensive season under his expert guidance.

Following his decision to retire from playing in 2010, Sean accepted multiple roles with the Spartans - Offensive Co-Ordinator, Quarterbacks Coach, Assistant Head Coach, and Assistant Manager. Sean manages all roles with the success and professionalism he has demonstrated throughout his carrer, and under his leadership, the Spartans recorded one of their best ever offensive seasons in 2011.

Sean's playing number of 75 was retired at the end of the 2010 season.
