Head Coach

Dean started his football in Basildon with his local team the Braves. Even then though it could be seen that his talent at lineacker would take him higher up the ladder. Dean eventually signed for the Chelmsford Cherokee where he was a stand out player. Gibson then went to America to further his ambitions and got a starting place on the Palomar University team. He played here until graduation and his return to the UK where he settled down and married Sue and started a family & business. On a chance meetring on a site in London Palmer asked if Dean would still like to play and he was good enough to sign for the Essex Chiefs and play at linebacker. Most famously putting Tony Stitt of Sussex Thunder out of a game with a almighty tackle (Stitt had previously been on the San Francisco 49er's squad).

After this Gibson agreed to coach the team in 2002, serving as Head Coach until 2007, and again in 2009. In 2010 Dean relinquished the Head Coaches spot to Cyrill Weems and now concentrates on his sons boxing career of which he is rightly proud. Dean had a pet name his players called him "Ginsters" as this was Deans half time meal.

Palmer says "his only regret is that he never got the chance to see Dean & Cyrill coach along side each other". But whether you loved him or not as the case may be know one can thank Dean enough for the clubs play off appearances and his input & work into the club. Cheers Gibbo.
