Cyrill WEEMS

Head Coach

Cyrill Weems came to the Spartans in 2009, after moving to the UK with his family. After spending time in an advisory capacity, "C-Dubbs" took the reigns as Head Coach for the 2010 season, and masterminded the Spartans return to playoff football.

Cyrill boasts an impressive football résumé, returning an interception for a touchdown to help the Wisconsin Badgers win the 1996 Copper Bowl, and also has experience in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and in the Arena League with the Buffalo Destroyers before retiring in 2001. The Spartans are extremely proud that Cyrill chose to impart his wide range of knowledge to both the coaching and playing staff.

Under his expert guidance, the Spartans were completely transformed both on and off the pitch. Cyrill has an infectious love for the game and a gift for coaching, as anyone who was fortunate enough to spend time with him during his stay with the Spartans will testify.

Cyrill played in one game for the Spartans, a 33-0 destruction of the Norwich Devils, scoring a touchdown. The number 7 shirt he played in was presented to Cyrill, and the jersey number has since been retired.

Coach Weems returned to the US after the 2010 season, but still keeps tabs on the Spartans and is in regular contact with many coaches and players.

It is difficult to express in words the monumentual contribution Cyrill made to the organisation, and to say simply "thank you" is not enough. So, Spartans - ask yourselves - What Would Weems Do?
